We believe it is important to empower families in a way that makes them less vulnerable to shocks such as these. The Sustainable Livelihoods project works for long-term, sustainable solutions.
We are committed to transforming lives and communities. Our ultimate vision is a world where Edukid’s assistance is no longer necessary—a world where poverty is a thing of the past, and individuals are empowered to achieve self-sufficiency. We believe in breaking the cycle of poverty by equipping families with the essential tools and resources they need to not only survive but thrive.
Our approach focuses on providing long-term support that enables families to establish sustainable livelihoods, allowing them to generate their own income and meet both their immediate needs and future aspirations. By fostering self-reliance, we help families secure a brighter, more stable future, paving the way for lasting change and development.

Edukid purchased 39 acres of land in Uganda to support our in-country partners, Ciford, and the local community in building self-sufficiency and breaking the cycle of poverty.
The land is a hub for sustainable agriculture, where food is grown organically and low-cost farming techniques are demonstrated. It also provides hands-on training for parents and guardians of children in our programme, covering crop cultivation, land management, and natural resource use. This helps families get more from their own land, improving food security and creating income opportunities.
By equipping families with practical skills and knowledge, the project shifts the focus from ongoing aid to long-term sustainability.
We hope it sparks a ripple effect—encouraging more families to adopt these practices and build a stronger, more self-reliant future.
In an exciting development for our work in Peru, we have secured some land next to the girls shelter. The aim is to replicate our sustainable livelihoods model in Uganda, focusing on practical, income-generating activities for local families.
We’ll be starting with fruit tree planting and tilapia fish farming. Both of these approaches have worked well for others nearby, offering reliable food and income sources for local communities. It’s early days, but this is the beginning of something we’re excited to build on to create sustainable livelihoods for all!
