The Projects You Will Visit In Peru
Peru is the newest country Edukid has been working in. Our support helps children access their right to an education. Many children attend school without sufficient food, leading to stunted growth, poor health, low concentration levels and low academic performance.
We support local schools with a feeding programme to ensure every child receives a nutritional meal.
All of the projects we run link directly to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG’s) such as nutrition, gender and sustainable energy. You can read more about our work below.
FAQs about Edukid overseas trips
During your stay in Peru with Edukid you will be staying in a variety of local hotels from city locations to the rural Amazon Jungle. All the hotels offered basic, but clean, safe and comfortable facilities. The main hotel in Imacita where the group stayed for the longest period offered a more authentic experience, with the hotel being a smaller, family run business. Please see our Peru guide to find out more about the accommodation.
Group sizes on an Edukid overseas trip can range from 15-35 individuals, with Edukid leaders and in-country partners additional. Due to the hotel capacities in the rural village, max group sizes to Peru will be 25 individuals.
Spanish is the main language spoken in Peru.
Extra money will be useful for buying snacks, drinks and any souvenirs you would like. There will be opportunities to visit local markets for shopping. Please see our trip guide or speak to your trip leader for recommendations.
Edukid provides 3 meals a day for all participants on a trip.
Breakfast will be provided at the accommodation and will include eggs, toast, fruits and juices.
Lunch will be provided by the local schools we visit. This will include traditional Peruvian meals such as chicken or beef, rice and beans.
Evening meals will be provided by the accommodation and will include different options such as chicken, vegetarian, omelettes, soups etc.
