Becca’s Miles for Smiles: Bringing water to Koch Goma School

Becca and her son travelled to Uganda on an Edukid trip. During her visit, she noticed that the water source at Koch Goma school had become unreliable and inadequate for the school and surrounding community. Motivated to make a difference, Becca, her husband Rick and family set out to raise money for a new borehole that would provide clean, safe water to the children and the wider community in Koch Goma, Northern Uganda. Fast forward to today, and their “Miles for Smiles” journey has been truly inspiring! From running events like the Bristol Half Marathon, Manchester Marathon and Bristol 10k, Becca and Rick have been tirelessly raising funds for this vital cause.

Freddies 12 hour Drumathon event

Freddie, a dedicated student from Kingsley School, has been fundraising for EDUKID through an incredible all-day drumathon event. During a life-changing visit to Uganda, Freddie met a young student who had been living in extreme poverty and was unable to afford school fees. Hearing first-hand how a lack of access to education was impacting this child’s future moved Freddie and inspired him to take action.

UK School Fundraising

Over the past few years, we have had several donations from local football clubs, businesses and schools donating sports clothing and equipment to school students and their football teams in Uganda. Recently, a school in the UK learnt about school children in Uganda playing football with no boots, rather they were playing bare foot. They decided amongst themselves that they would like to donate their boots to Edukid who can distribute them to children in Uganda. Football is one of the most popular sports in Uganda, however the kits and equipment are sparse. Edukid would like to say a huge thank you for all the donations over the years of sports kit and equipment for children in Uganda. The smiles on the students face when they recieve full, matching kit is so incredibly heart-warming! Thank you!
